VPEM

VPEM-MWD

The VPEM-MWD system integrates seamlessly with existing GE Tensor equipment, allowing either electromagnetic or positive pulse data transmission from a single system. The GE Tensor MWD is a proven design with years of field experience, and the VPEM system further expands its capabilities. Principle of operation relies on a periodic oscillation of electromagnetic current emitted from a down hole transmitter into formation to forma series of potential spikes that form the communicate waveform decoded by surface equipment. Programmable operational-modes and sequences typical of QDT software is retained, including many surface conditioning techniques. Mud pulse telemetry has an inherent disadvantage when used with aerated drilling fluids and formations with lost circulation zones. When the well conditions change or need to pump LCM material will cause problems with standard mud pulse transmission, immediate options are available onsite. Costly transportation and NPT are significantly reduced ensuring the customers need for an efficient, effective solution is met. Downhole tool is fully retrievable and reinsertable for added confidence in lost in hole situations. The VPEM also has downlink capability and can be configured to a variety of power settings depending on the formations and conditions expected to maximize run duration and transmission effectiveness. VPEM-MWD applications are available with the optional Rotary Flow Switch (RFS) which improves battery efficiency and increases run durations.
